Employment Legislation UpdateEmployment legislation changes in April each year. To make sure that you are up to date, here are the key changes.
Statutory PayFrom 5 April 2009 the rate for statutory maternity, paternity, adoption pay will increase to £123.06 per week or 90% of average weekly earnings, whichever is less. Statutory Sick PayFrom 6 April 2009 the rate for statutory sick pay increases from £75.40 to £79.15 Statutory Holiday EntitlementThe statutory holiday entitlement will increase from 24 to 28 days (5.6 weeks) from April 2009 for full time workers. Bank/Public holidays can be included in this 28 day total. Holiday pay is calculated on a pro-rata basis for part time workers. Flexible working extendedThe right to request flexible working is extended to parents of children up to the age of 16 years from April 2009.
