Sapience HR Company History
Founder Sue Hook has worked in personnel and human resources all her career and is passionate about helping companies and people develop. In 2007, Sue saw an opportunity to provide good quality and affordable human resource support to small businesses in Cornwall and went on to establish Sapience HR.
Setting up the business was an exciting journey, particularly introducing the concept that staff can be an asset, rather than just a cost to a business. Sue continued helping companies identify what added value HR services can bring to their organisations, and after a period, some excellent clients came knocking on the door. These helped her build a sound reputation for pragmatic, practical advice and techniques, which the clients loved. Sapience HR was on the map!
The products and services on offer were proving so popular that there weren’t enough hours in the day to keep everyone happy! So Sue decided to expand. After a long search, she found the perfect office in the beautiful town of Hayle.
The team expanded so that Sue could offer a wider range of services to both new and existing clients. Sue now has a perfectly formed team of experts who are equally passionate about providing excellent HR services. The offices are a bit quirky being part of a converted brewery, which suits the team’s outlook on life. Unfortunately the beer has long since dried up!
In November 2011 Sapience HR bid farewell to one of its valued members of the team, Becky Palmer. After a fantastic year with Sue and Graham, Becky leaves the business for a fantastic opportunity as a Marketing Manager in the bright lights of Truro. Although we will be very sad to see Becky leave Sapience HR, we wish her all the best in her future career. We look forward to welcoming a new member of staff to the team in the upcoming weeks, so watch this space!
Managing people can be interesting, exciting but sometimes a challenge. Employers either love it or hate it. Managers will see people at their best and their worst, but the real joy is when everyone comes together working in concert, and the company moves forward in its development.
At Sapience HR we do help companies with the technical pieces such as contracts and policies, but our real joy is supporting companies implement HR practices to develop their business through their people.
