A HR menu to cook up employment success

People are the heart of any productive business and helping the county’s businesswomen make sure they have the right team working for them is the aim of Cornwall Enterprising Women’s latest networking event, Café HR.

Human resource expert and director of Sapience HR, Sue Hook, will be serving up a four-course menu of hot HR topics from ‘appetisers’ such as taking on new staff to ‘desserts’, such as discipline, grievance and leavers at the event tailored for business owners who currently employ or are looking to employ staff to help grow their business.

Ms Hook said: “The process of employing and keeping good staff is such Smörgåsbord of instinct, processes, reasonableness and law that it can be quite daunting if you are unfamiliar with the proper procedures.

“The session will provide practical and pragmatic advice, which can be implemented into any business, no matter what the size or the industry.”

The half-day session is one of the many different courses held by Cornwall Enterprising Women, which helps female entrepreneurs in Cornwall gain access to expert skills, training, and networking opportunities, and will incorporate interactive techniques to help participants understand the importance of employment issues.

It is taking place from 10am to 2pm on Wednesday, June 29, at Library House, Green Street, Truro, TR1 2LH and registration for the event is free for members of Enterprising Women and £15 for non-members.
